Stuck inside
Tuesday we had a small earth quake here, and today apparently a hurricane has decided to stop by. I don't think I've ever experienced two extreme nature phenomenon in one week before.
So we are stuck inside today. And since I don't feel like cleaning the place (even though it could use it), I am going to watch movies (as long as we have power), make pancakes (a healthy recipe with oats and cottage cheese) untangle yarn, crochet, make polymer beads and maybe watch some tutorials on Flash (for websites). What are you doing today? Is anyone affected by the hurricane? And how about those of you in Denmark? How's the weather there?

And one more...
Here's one more necklace, made with the pink beads I showed you earlier. I didn't want to wait until tomorrow to take the picture, so I apologize if it's a bit dark.

Making Beads, part 2
Hi again,
I thought I would just show you how my beads turned out, and what I have used them for.
Above are some pink ones I made. They are all polymer clay, and I experimented with mixing red and translucent to get different shades. For the big ones, I used a technique called "millefiori", where you make a polymer clay cane with a pattern, and then cut it into really thin slices, which are then applied to beads. I used that same technique for these beads:
And here is the jewelry, I have made so far, using the beads:
I also made this triangle necklace:
and this rose bead, which I have yet to put in a necklace:
Aside from the polymer clay jewelry, I also made these two little bracelets:
The bracelets are made with glass beads, and for the second one, I also used felt beads.
So, as you can see, I am keeping myself busy:)

Making Beads
I am working on polymer clay beads tonight. Tomorrow I will bake them and make holes in them, so I can use them for jewelry making:)

Denmark
Hi again,
I finally got my photos from Denmark organized and wrote this, much over due, post.
Warning: This post is picture-heavy...
Like I told you, I spent the last month in Denmark visiting friends and family.
I am still getting up early due to the 6 hour time difference, so when I wake up at 6am, it is like waking up at 12pm Danish time. That is the good thing about traveling from Denmark to America. Before we left, I had gotten into a bad habit of sleeping in, but now I am all reset and ready to get the most out of my days.
The main purpose of going to Denmark was of course to see the people we hadn't seen in so long, but we also took some time to go sightseeing:
And then of course, the main event of our trip was when we had a Danish wedding party for all the people who weren't able to join us last year in America when we got married.
We made the wedding cake ourselves:
and decorated it with flowers:
This was the trial cake:
And here is the real thing:
We also did all the traditional wedding stuff, such as dancing the wedding waltz. In Denmark it is a tradition to dance this dance before midnight, and as the couple is dancing, all the guests will stand in a circle around them, clapping, and slowly moving closer and closer until the couple is so "squished" that they are "forced" to kiss.
After the kiss, there is this strange tradition, where some of the strong guests lift the groom up, pull off his shoes and cuts off the tips of his socks. Among my family, we have been discussing what this tradition might symbolize, and there are two theories: one is that the grooms socks are cut because the bride must then prove that she is a good wife, who can mend his socks. The other is that young men, before they were married, would sneak out during the night to see other women, and by cutting their socks, you are somehow discouraging them from doing this... or something along those lines.
Anyway, it stuck and is now a tradition in Denmark.
During the dinner, there were speeches, and songs that people wrote to well known tunes. In my family, it is sort of a tradition to present the songs in an interesting manner. Thus, my mom made a fake wedding cake song holder for my brothers wedding, and this time, my brother and his family had made this really cool closet song holder, and each song was folded into either an origami dress or shirt with individual little hangers:)
After the dinner was lots of dancing until the wee hours of the night.
And that's pretty much it for our Denmark trip. We hope to go back soon:)

New buttons in my store
Hi there,
Sorry I haven't been very active on my blog lately.
I am working on a little photo post about my trip to Denmark.
In the meantime, here are some buttons I made for my shop.

Project of the day
Hi again,
I didn't tell you, but the last month I have been in Denmark visiting my family and friends.
It was great seeing them all again, and although it is nice being home again, it was hard leaving everybody.
Anyway, I didn't have much time to do crafts in Denmark, so now that I am home, my head is filled with about a million ideas of things I want to make.
Here is the first of many projects to come: polymer clay buttons:)
As you can see, I also made tags for them, which means that I am slowly building up the courage to start selling some stuff.
Well, more about that and my trip to Denmark in later posts.
Have a nice Sunday.
